 BTW, FWIW:

 For anyone else who may be interested in this potential issue, even though
 it is off topic, I STRONGLY recommend macports over Homebrew.  Perhaps it
 is just because I had installed ports early on, before Hombrew existed.  I
 have nothing against Homebrew as I have obviously had it installed and
 used it, but I have found, over time, by and by, that I have gone back to
 ports exclusively, partially due to the ability for ports to "make it
 work", plus the added benefit of support from the ports community (this
 site + the great documentation).

 I feel it is a privilege to have the support from such a great port
 community.  THANK YOU!
