 ...''within'' the mpv program, there must be some place where you can
 specify a search path. ''That'' search path needs to include the place
 where youtube-dl is, namely /opt/local/bin. If you can't specify it, then
 mpv must be hardcoding it internally. Ken's suggestion to put a symlink of
 youtube-dl into /usr/local/bin/ is a good one, since that's a pretty
 standard location where another program might look. Let us know if that
 works.

 Or maybe you can tell mpv the absolute path to youtube-dl (/opt/local/bin
 /youtube-dl).

 You should also update your youtube-dl since it's months out of date;
 presumably your other ports are outdated too. `sudo port upgrade
 outdated`.
