 The main.log does show this error, indicative of the libtool problem being
 discussed:

 :info:configure checking command to parse /opt/local/bin/nm output from
 /usr/bin/clang object... failed
 }}}
 To discover why this failed, we could look in the config.log file; you
 could attach it.
