 You may have another issue... or perhaps what fixed the issue for me does
 not fully fix it for you. There are many variables.

 I would do this:
 {{{
 sudo port uninstall cherrytree
 rm -rf ~/.config/cherrytree
 sudo port -v selfupdate
 sudo port -v install cherrytree
 }}}
 and then run cherrytree. If you crash on launch -- well, damn. Please post
 a log.

 There is another issue that has to do with a crash when quitting that I am
 looking into but it is harder to fix, so far at least. But that doesn't
 interfere with running it, for me.
