 I followed his instructions first.

 $ mv -v ~/.config/cherrytree/config.cfg{,.backup}
 ~/.config/cherrytree/config.cfg -> ~/.config/cherrytree/config.cfg.backup
 }}}

 I then followed your instructions.

 {{{
 sudo port uninstall cherrytree
 rm -rf ~/.config/cherrytree
 sudo port -v selfupdate
 sudo port -v install cherrytree
 }}}

 No Dice
