Comment (by nigel-daniels):

 Hi, I updated my OS to Sonoma 14.1.2 and updated MacPorts. I still have
 the same error, I rechecked my TeX install:

 {{{
 % which texi2pdf
 /opt/local/bin/texi2pdf
 % which tex
 /Library/TeX/Distributions/Programs/texbin/tex
 % echo $PATH
 /opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/System/Cryptexes/App/usr/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/var/run/com.apple.security.cryptexd/codex.system/bootstrap/usr/local/bin:/var/run/com.apple.security.cryptexd/codex.system/bootstrap/usr/bin:/var/run/com.apple.security.cryptexd/codex.system/bootstrap/usr/appleinternal/bin:/Library/TeX/Distributions/Programs/texbin:/opt/local/libexec/gnubin
 }}}

 It looks like everything is in place.
