 Hmmm.  I find that `-Wl,-commons,use_dylibs` comes from configure.ac in
 HDF5 source, more than one version.  This is fortran related.  That is
 obscure enough that Apple might have forgotten to re-test it.  You might
 try disabling the fortran variant with `port install hdf5 -fortran`.
