Comment (by ryandesign):

 The meson port installs the $prefix/bin/meson symlink that points to
 $prefix/bin/meson-3.12

 The py312-meson port installs $prefix/bin/meson-3.12

 So if you're missing meson-3.12, then the py312-meson port's
 build/installation log is the one we need to be examining.
