perl --version is not at perl5.36 but at perl5.34 yet both are listed as active

After sudo port install perl5 +perl5_36
I get:
~ $ perl --version

This is perl 5, version 36, subversion 1 (v5.36.1) built for darwin-thread-multi-2level
