From jmr at macports.org Tue Jun 8 22:53:51 2010 From: jmr at macports.org (Joshua Root) Date: Wed, 09 Jun 2010 06:53:51 +1000 Subject: [MacPorts-announce] MacPorts 1.9.0 has been released Message-ID: <4C0EADDF.5020103@macports.org> The MacPorts Project is happy to announce that the 1.9.0 version has now been released. It is available via the usual methods: - selfupdate if you already have MacPorts installed - package installers in DMGs for 10.4 [1], 10.5 [2], and 10.6 [3] (all universal builds, the first two i386/ppc and the latter i386/x86_64) - source tarballs, both .tar.bz2 [4] and .tar.gz [5] - subversion tag [6] The list of what's new in 1.9.0 is quite extensive (so I won't list it here), the details can be found in the NEWS [7] file or the somewhat more exhaustive ChangeLog [8]. One particular change that requires special attention is the new SQLite registry format, which will be the preferred format moving forward. It is the default for new installs, but existing installs will need their macports.conf edited in order to use it, by changing 'portdbformat flat' to 'portdbformat sqlite'. After making this change, your existing flat receipts will be converted the first time you run port(1) with sufficient privileges (this usually means using sudo; e.g. 'sudo port installed'). A big thanks to the developers for their hard work with all of the various features and bug fixes in 1.9.0, and to all those who helped out by reporting bugs or testing. Detached PGP signatures for the DMGs and source tarballs have been made with my key, which is available on the keyservers and my MacPorts wiki page [9]. - Josh [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] PS, my PGP key ID is B70C8867DCDBFF26, fingerprint B6D0 0D4B 209D 03FF 2BCE B77F B70C 8867 DCDB FF26 From jmr at macports.org Fri Jun 18 03:39:12 2010 From: jmr at macports.org (Joshua Root) Date: Fri, 18 Jun 2010 11:39:12 +1000 Subject: [MacPorts-announce] MacPorts 1.9.1 has been released Message-ID: <4C1ACE40.1020004@macports.org> The MacPorts Project is pleased to announce the release of version 1.9.1. This is a bugfix release with small changes only. See the ChangeLog [1] for the list of changes. If you already have MacPorts installed, the preferred method for updating is to run: sudo port selfupdate For new installs, there are also package installers in disk images available for 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6 (all universal builds, the first two i386/ppc and the latter i386/x86_64) at [2]. The source is also available as tarballs compressed with gzip or bzip2, or from the subversion tag [3].
