Why does darwinports developers choose the tcl/tk for darwinports project?

Today morning, I just wonder

Why does darwinports developers choose the tcl/tk for darwinports project?

After 2001, there are lots of languages not only tcl/tk..

are there specific reasons for choosing tcl/tk?

if anyone know, could explain for me?
