it builds fine here with these options. 

What's shown above is the message

ERROR: no MD5 tool found

which comes from the lines 

if test -x "`which md5`"
then
  MD5=md5
  elif test -x "`which md5sum`"
  then
    MD5=md5sum
    elif test -x "`which openssl`"
  then
      MD5="openssl md5 -hex"
      else
        echo "ERROR: no MD5 tool found"
  exit 1
 fi

 in hcachever.sh from the root of the mutt source directory
			  
Here is 

$ which md5
/sbin/md5

Is /sbin in your path? Are you on Mac OS X? Which version? Is there
another md5 tool in your path?
