Granted Tcl was probably the right choice at the time MacPorts was  
started, but it probably wouldn't be the right choice now.

Also, there's a difference between rewriting all the Portfile's, which  
I'm not suggesting, and rewriting the MacPorts engine.  One could  
write a parser for the simple Tcl used in Portfile's in Python.
