How to adapt ports to different versions of Python

I have the same question for my upcoming py-smisk package – should I
go with one package (py-smisk) having three variants (python24,
python25, python26) or should I go with three different packages
(py24-smisk, py25-smisk, py26-smisk)?

Personally I would prefer to have a way of installing one package but
getting support for several python versions. Dunno if variants would
be the best way though (as the package would need to be part of one of
the python groups).
