The wiki macro for querying tickets is relatively easy  to use by
everyone. You just need to copy the query string from a custom query. So
you could add a wiki page listing all science related ports by filtering
on a keyword "science".

Reports are a little bit more flexible as they allow custom SQL, but for
most stuff the Trac query language is sufficient.
