Josh,
   The last posted Portfile change on the ticket fixed the
multilib build. You must have never gotten far enough to see
PR41180 which I fixed on gcc trunk and gcc 4.4 branch last 
week. I am testing new packaging that adds that patch and
the --disable-libjava-multilib patch which significantly shortens
the build.
