MacPorts on Other Platforms

I dusted off the FreeBSD package for MacPorts 1.8.0,
and it now runs OK on FreeBSD 7.2 (and probably 8.0)

All Linux packages were retired, since the new MP code
is using BSD commands and also since threaded Tcl is not
available on all distributions. The old package source
was left as 1.6.0, accidently causing some svn issues...

The FreeBSD builds came about as a test on Open Source OS,
when the Darwin OS (+puredarwin) stopped being released.
So it went something like darwin7 -> darwin8 -> freebsd7,
and eventually -> freebsd8 which is currently in RC state.

You might still be able to get MP to work on puredarwin.org
and darwin9 and darwin10 but it's much "easier" on FreeBSD
since the rest of the operating system is already working ?
(currently much of PureDarwin requires building on Mac OS X)

There are not many mac ports working with "platform freebsd",
but that's not the goal either (although some might be fixed)
The test is more for "base", to test whether it remains working
without the proprietary parts... And thus far, it still does.

All the source code (and packaging) have been committed to trunk.
Packages are at: http://trac.macports.org/browser/users/afb/GA/
