#25075 Odd postflight script behaviour with config files

Does anyone see different behaviour from the postflight script in the
installer pkg than reported in <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/25075>?
If it's always the same pattern, can anyone explain why it would happen?

I doubt this is a regression, since the relevant code in 1.8 is
identical, and pre-1.8 always overwrote the config files. Certainly not
something we want to happen though.
