Yes, that feature would be really great! Even now, although buildbot is not yet widely announced.
I dug myself through some compile-stdio right now (I stopped downloading one after it had reached a size of 1GB...) and spotted that e.g. gwenhywfar had a missing dep to pkgconfig.

	I'd vote for an (perhaps opt-in) email sending possibility to maintainers already now, since it simply makes so much sense!!!

Let me know if I could be of any help here.
I already had a quick look at the /contrib/buildbot/buildmaster.config and wonder how the email-sending would have to be configured in there...
