archivefetch/archive ownership

As I'm watching the files sitting in my ${prefix}/var/macports/software, I've noticed that sometimes the file is owned by root and other times owned by ${macportsuser}.

It seems immediately after a build it's owned by root, but if I install another version via archivefetch (same variants or different) all archives for that port become owned by ${macportsuser}.

Which version is correct?
