Creating directory in /home impossible...

Hi,

it looks like it's an MacOSX peculiarity that I cannot create a directory in /home, since the latter is write protected.

Can I safely run "chmod u+w /home", so that I can create the directory in need, change its necessary permissions, and perhaps remove the write-flag afterwards?

I hope this won't hamper anything on MacOSX.
