I doubt it. I coincidentally installed from the dmg today on a machine
that had never had MacPorts installed, and it works fine.

Compatibility version 7.0.0 of libcurl.4.dylib is definitely a 10.7
thing though. I see 6.0.0 on all the 10.6 machines I have access to.
