qt4-mac update and +universal issue

Using dovecot2 as a test:

$ port info dovecot2
variant_exists universal == '0'
dovecot2 @2.1.5, Revision 1 (mail)
Variants:             ldap, lucene, mariadb, mysql51, mysql55, no_startupitem, percona, postgresql82, postgresql83, postgresql84, postgresql90,
                      postgresql91, solr, universal
...

Adding "variant universal {}":
$ port info dovecot2
variant_exists universal == '1'
dovecot2 @2.1.5, Revision 1 (mail)
Variants:             ldap, lucene, mariadb, mysql51, mysql55, no_startupitem, percona, postgresql82, postgresql83, postgresql84, postgresql90,
                      postgresql91, solr, universal
...

Is base not adding the universal variant in time for variant_exists?
