Yeah, that was my thinking when I removed it, but I missed the two ports that still depended on it:

py-nltk                        @2.0.1rc1       python/py-nltk
py-smisk                       @1.1.6          python/py-smisk

The easiest thing for now was just to bring back the old version for 2.4 support. I'll file unification tickets for py-nltk and py-smisk and then we can take it from there.
