buildbot and branches

Does the buildbot automatically build branch commits?

In what prefix is the buildbot finding these built packages and why is port not finding the mariadb55 port in branches/pixilla-mysqls-55?
Building mariadb (1 of 3)...package found, not building again
Building mariadb-server (2 of 3)...package found, not building again
Building mariadb55 (3 of 3)...
Error: Port mariadb55 not found

Are we safe to build branch ports on the buildbots and not worry about effecting prebuilt packages?
