or, since we apparently know a workaround by now, you could edit your
macports.conf to include __CFPREFERENCES_AVOID_DAEMON in the extra_env
configuration variable and set __CFPREFERENCES_AVOID_DAEMON=1 in the
environment of your cronjob.
