r102562 and #34056 wrt 10.5 pango +universal

On 10.5 I started producing pspp-devel mdmgs for the handful of users stuck on that OS, however r102562 has broken that setup due to pulling in cmake's isolation of universal support to like architectures (ppc with ppc64 and i386 with x86_64 while neither the two shall meet). MacPorts believes that cmake's architecture must match +universal.

Do you have any recommended tweaks on my end (e.g. using an older pango) or can the cmake Portfile be allowed to cross compile again? perhaps MacPorts can be tricked into believing cmake's installed +universal when it actually isn't (it's just a build tool after all)?
