It is possibly not a very good reason, but just the fact that it had been confirmed that it was working with this compiler on the ticket, while I cannot test on SL since I am not on this version anymore. 
Furthermore, it seemed to me also the most logical as it is the closest to the clang provided with the latest Xcode, but again, pretty arbitrary reason.
