svn repo KeepAlive Off?

svn 1.8.0 doesn't want to authenticate to MacPorts' svn, this is probably due to the bug in serf discussed on the subversion -users lists (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/subversion_users/KZfUsH7Mg28) [I didn't verify, but it seems likely)...

would it be reasonable to get KeepAlive set to 'on' (which is probably useful anyway)? Hopefully a new serf release will happen shortly which will fix this, but in the meantime it would make things easier for me ;-)
