Have a look at the “new” Portfile for atlas. If clang is chosen as a compiler, the Portfile looks for a gfortran-mp-4.* version in the ${prefix}/bin directory and select the most recent version it finds. It then pulls up the corresponding libgomp.dylib to handle OpenMPI correctly.
