I assume that means I should merge the removal of macports_fastload.tcl
into the 2.3 branch as proposed in
  https://trac.macports.org/ticket/43208#comment:10 and
  https://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-dev/2014-April/026392.html?

What you currently committed to trunk will work with 2.2.x and current trunk,
but sourcing macports_fastload.tcl is still required with the current state of
2.3.0.
