It also didn't occur to you apparently that I may not have been able to test things myself because I wasn't working on a Mac...

Interested but not Tcl-savvy enough, nor knowledgeable enough about the inner details of what seems to have become a rather vast and intricate system. I also need to avoid allowing myself to go off and make all kinds of improvements I personally find useful, with the justification that they might be considered that by the MacPorts devs. If not only because too many personal mods are handicapping in the long run.
