And some more "native" to Tcl/Tk applications use the -name value approach. For
example, glue code we generate using SWIG uses the following operations that are
apparently similar to Tk widgets:

To load:
  $ref cget -fieldname
To store:
  $ref configure [-fieldname $value]...
