I think you mean portmirror, which will delete all old distfiles (which I think would be fine, but I guess other people don’t like).
I tend to run it locally:
port mirror —-new sqlite3 && port mirror installed && portmirror
(see https://trac.macports.org/ticket/21787 for why)
