The only thing that comes to mind is having qt ports be able select a qt version variant that is mutually exclusive to the other qt versions, something like x11 and quartz variants.

Or perhaps coming up with a vast concurrent install scheme like llvm/clang has, where you can have any and/or all of them at the same time.

Both pretty ugly.
