slow performance on catalina installing texlive-fonts-extra

Adding additional information:

"time port -s install texlive-fonts-extra" yields:

real	23m0.587s
user	18m34.592s
sys	3m26.868s

Note the "user" time there, which is truly extraordinary.

Note that the single biggest block of time is about 15 minutes in
"install". From my personal observation, almost all of that time was
spent at the end of "install", with nothing happening in the log at
that time at all; the system is seemingly just spinning.
