This commit looks like it might have fixed that issue:

It was included in MacPorts 2.6.4. Are you running that version or later? If not, run sudo port selfupdate to get it. Or if you're running an earlier version of master, update your git clone of master and recompile.

If you are already running that version, then it's something else...
