I was building this a few years ago when it was very new. Jeremy suggested it as the next step for gtk support now that Linux has moved beyond X to Wayland.

However it was still mostly non-functional when I tried, and I think the primary developer was called into the army to do service so that was that.

Looks like he’s back, but not working on this?
