Presently, I'm fully content with just having my php84 branch w/ all of
the necessary changes for getting the php infrastructure up-to-date
collected in one, single place. Until someone w/ commit authority turns
up w/ some constructive feedback as to how, they want me to proceed, I'm
not changing anything at all. I've asked the maintainers several times,
how they want to proceed, without getting any feedback at all 👎🏻.
Actually, for the folks interested in the php infrastructure, it's an
advantage to have everything collected in one place. I've given
instructions on how, one can integrate my php84 branch, into one's
MacPorts installation on the macports users mailing list. When I update
my php84 branch, I'll continue to post these on both the users &
developer mailing lists to keep everyone up-to-date.
If someone is interested in furthering my work, the following issues
still need some love:
473a03e
8e1bcd9
The current status is:
php 8.* works
php 7.4 has the implicit-ints problem, but otherwise works
php 5.x are toast
Personally, I don't care about the php 5.x versions; and php7.4 is only
relevant for me, if I should need to install some obscure, legacy
WordPress plugin, that hasn't been updated for php8.x.
If anyone finds some issue of any kind with my php84 branch, please
contact me either directly -or- post a comment to one of the existing
threads on one of the maling lists.
🤓 Happy hacking & coding ...
