There will be at least one beta and one release candidate, which will be
announced as usual. When the final version is released, selfupdate on
10.4 will fail. 'port sync' will still work, and new features are not
supposed to be used in the ports tree for two weeks after a major
release, so you will have that long before you need to stop syncing to
avoid breaking things.
We also always create a tag in the ports repo at the time of a new base
release.
