Perl ports

Sorry for the delay. I’ve been swamped a bit, then I deferred somewhat – and then I decided to take the plunge and buy a new personal Mac (mine was ten years old) just before the prices were jacked up.

Ok, I’ve started with a pristine tree on the new machine. I’m going first to commit Perl 5.42.2, which is overdue (5.44 is on its way for this summer).
