 Okay,  this is what I come up with (patch attached as info-Portfile.diff):
 Create an info variant which installs the info pages. This is what I have
 used for a while now (changed in my local svn workig copy).

 This is not as good as the real solution described above, but at least
 givs info pages for the once that explicitely request it. f course that
 should not be done for multiple gcc-ports.
