 The incorrect ..incomplete way was to do the following steps:

 sudo port -v uninstall heimdal

 sudo port -vu upgrade installed


 There definitely needs to be a clean build of gnome-vfs. You shouldn't
 have to run:

 sudo port -v clean --all gnome-vfs


 I hadn't tried the other basic clean:

 sudo port -v clean gnome-vfs

 I am certain that method will work just as well. MMV
