 The libpng port is at version 1.2.26 and works fine. Livecheck informs me
 that version 1.2.27 has been released, but it won't compile (on Mac OS X
 10.4.11 PPC at least):

 Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command " cd
 && make all " returned error 2

 Similar stuff is happening to non-Mac users too; see
 their bug report] on SourceForge.

 This MacPorts ticket is to document the fact that we know a new version is
 available and to explain why we can't update to it at this time. If a
 patch emerges to let us install 1.2.27 we'll use that, or if 1.2.28 is
 released we'll update to that.
