 How long did you wait for the import?  Here, with py25-gtk 2.12.1
 installed, an 'import gtk' takes several seconds as it has to wait for X11
 to launch (and X11 may want to do a font scan, which could take longer
 still).

 Also, FYI, using 'port installed' is a better way of seeing what you have
 installed as it will show the version, active/inactive, and variants used.
