 just to add it, also for me new xrender does compile fine now after having
 install xorg-libX11. All but one X11-apps have "survived" that addition,
 but gimp2 (2.6.2) crashes now while starting. But i haven't had it in used
 often the past weeks, so it could have been another upgrade of the needed
 components and i just haven't noticed so far. I'll do a rebuild, maybe
 just something like the recent libcap<->wireshark thing.

 And in any case, thanks again for all the help and the ongoing
 development/discussion regrading how to keep the X11 in shape for Tiger :)
