Comment:

 After comparing [http://trac.macports.org/wiki/InstallingMacPorts
 InstallingMacPorts] with [http://www.macports.org/install.php install.php]
 and the [http://guide.macports.org/ Guide], I believe the following
 notes/sections are missing from the latter two documents:

  * "To understand why MacPorts libraries are often installed when Apple
 has provided one, see section "Why is MacPorts using its own libraries?"
 in the FAQ."
  * "Install MacPorts from source as an unprivileged (non-root) user"
