 How long have you waited? Depending on the speed of your computer, hard
 drive, etc. it may just take longer than you were expecting.

 Another possibility: Is another MacPorts process running? If so, it may be
 waiting for that one to finish first.

 If that's not it, try with debug output and show us what it's doing.
 "`sudo port -d activate libiconv`"
