 So did it continue after that to install various ports?  gedit has over
 100 dependencies so it isn't surprising that it would take some time, and
 as you've now seen, using {{{-d}}} can be much more verbose in what's
 happening than without.  Also note there's a {{{-v}}} option which is
 between {{{-d}}} and no option, as far as verbosity goes.
