 I'm about stumped then.

 Did you make sure to port clean -f --all p5-scalar-list-utils before
 reinstalling it (if you forgot the --all, the port could have been
 reinstalled from an archive instead of being rebuilt properly?)

 It also seems really strange that upgrading to MP 1.6 would have caused
 this problem, did you do anything else to the system? did you upgrade perl
 recently?
